Products with Asbestos
During their processing asbestos fibers are graded based upon their length - with the shortest titled milled asbestos. The longest fibers are destined to be combined with materials such as cotton to be used in fabrics (for example, firefighters clothes and gas masks) while the shorter ones are combined with other materials to make items such as gaskets, pipes and brake linings.
Some kinds of the following products contain asbestos:
- Acoustical spray and tile products
- Air cell
- Asbestos linings
- Asbestos-containing paper
- Asbestos-containing rope, braiding and wick
- Asbestos-containing spray
- Asbestos-containing tape or thread
- Asphalt tile and sundry products
- Automotive and marine products such as brake linings, brake pads, brake shoes, brake blocks, clutches, transmissions, gaskets, shock absorbers
- Caulking coatings and compounds
- Ceiling panels and tiles
- Cement products, such as cement or mortar, board, flooring, panels, pipe, flat and corrugated sheet, siding, shingles, stucco
- Cements and adhesives
- Ceramic or paint fillers
- Cigarette filters
- Commercial or industrial machines and components, including brake linings, clutch facings, thermal insulation, transmission components, gaskets
- Demolding/detackifying agents
- Drywall joint treatment products, such as joint sealant, joint compound, joint treatment, joint cement, caulking compounds
- Fireproofing products
- Flame retardant blankets
- Flame retardant cloth and textiles
- Flame retardant paint
- Flame retardant protective clothing and helmets - such as those worn by race car drivers and firefighters
- Floor coverings, such as tile, sheet, backing and sundries
- Gaskets, sheet packing, and molded products
- Gypsum products - fire retardant gypsum board, lath, finishing and taping compounds
- Hair dryers
